Upcoming Mapping Workshops for Teens with the NEA Lab

Jun 14, 2024 | NEA Lab | 0 comments

The NEA Lab welcomes participants for critical mapping workshops in collaboration with community partner Detroitography. Each session workshop will involve using open source tools to learn about and work with maps and data. There will be two sessions – one in the morning and one in the afternoon. You’ll also have the opportunity to understand equitable data collection, data management, and basic map visualization techniques. All materials will be provided.

Participants are expected to be ages 14-17 years old. Parents are expected to attend the first 10 minutes of the first session to provide consent for their child. Participants are expected to stay for both sessions. Lunch will be offered in between. The time commitment is approximately 4.5 hours and participants will receive $100 gift cards at the end of the workshop.

As of now, the East side workshop will be on July 20 at the Stoudamire Wellness Hub (4401 Conner St) from 10a to 2:30p.

West side workshop information coming soon.
