“Mental illness does not drive gun violence,” said April Zeoli, an expert on gun violence who previously taught at Michigan State University and is now an associate professor of health management policy at the University of Michigan’s School of Public Health.
Dr. Zeoli spoke with Michigan Advance about focusing on evidence-based injury and violence prevention strategies along with mental health issues when addressing firearm violence, not just one or the other.
