Katie Edwards, PhD

Katie M. Edwards, PhD, is Professor at the University of Michigan School of Social Work and Director of the Interpersonal Violence Research Laboratory. Her community-engaged research focuses on preventing interpersonal violence and promoting health and well-being among adolescents and young adults, particularly in partnership with Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and other historically underserved communities. Using participatory action research, Dr. Edwards develops, implements, and evaluates culturally grounded interventions to prevent sexual and related forms of violence (e.g., intimate partner violence, firearm violence) while promoting positive youth development. Her work has been supported by the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Department of Justice, and other federal agencies and foundations, resulting in more than 230 scientific publications and over $25 million in external research funding.
