Impact Report

Overview

Launched as U-M Presidential Initiative in 2019 and a University wide Institute in 2021, the U-M Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention engages the breadth of expertise across the University of Michigan, with input from nonacademic stakeholders, to generate knowledge and advance solutions that will decrease firearm injury across the United States—while respecting the rights of responsible, law-abiding firearm owners.

This Impact Report highlights the work and progress of the Institute’s first five years.

As the Institute finishes its fifth year, our teams remain steadfast in our mission to study, evaluate, share and implement evidence-based solutions to this significant challenge. We are working to bring forward tangible solutions and to build the next generation of scholars who will carry this work forward.
