Experts say gun violence can negatively impact your mental health even remotely. A 2019 American Psychological Association survey found that one-third of American adults say the fear of a mass shooting keeps them from going to public places or events. According to the Gun Violence Archive, there have been more than 230 mass shootings in the US so far this year — defined as incidents in which four or more people were shot, not counting the attacker.
