2020 Missouri Firearms Survey Report Series

Institute Project
Outline of State of Missouri

The University of Michigan’s Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention will work collaboratively with the Missouri Foundation for Health to strengthen the foundation’s knowledge around firearm-related attitudes and behaviors within Missouri by conducting analyses using the 2020 Missouri Firearm Survey data, and developing brief reports that will be shared with stakeholders.

Abstract

Researchers at the University of Michigan’s Institute for Firearm Injury Prevention will work collaboratively with the Missouri Foundation for Health (MFH) to help strengthen the foundation’s knowledge around firearm-related attitudes and behaviors within Missouri. The team will conduct appropriate data preparation, coding, weighting, and analyses using the raw 2020 Missouri Firearm Survey data provided by MFH. After an analysis, the team will develop a descriptive summary report and four additional quarterly brief reports, each focused on a specific firearm-related topic and/or population. The areas of focus for the brief reports will be determined collaboratively with MFH staff and stakeholders and take into consideration the intended audiences (e.g. Missouri-based public health organizations and community organizations addressing firearm injury and death prevention, MFH-funded contractors and grantees, veterans’ groups, suicide prevention groups, policymakers).
