Advance Peace Lansing’s (APL) violence disruption strategy that includes includes outreach and education to youth who are most at risk of involvement with gun violence through conducting and/or coordinating classes, workshops, trainings, and relevant activities for fellows within schools and in community settings that teach youth nonviolent conflict resolution skills. In addition, they provide counseling to address and heal trauma, and peer mentoring to provide guidance and positive role models for youth. They develop and implement community violence intervention models by deploying peacekeepers and neighborhood change agents, violence interrupters, and street outreach staff.
